YPG SkillCentre MasterclassNegotiation for Business and Personal SuccessMonday 12th February 2007, 6:00 - 9:30 pm Leader: Malcolm Smith, Mind Games Management Training Venue: Hilton Edinburgh Grosvenor, Grosvenor Street, Edinburgh, EH12 5EF (travel details) Cost: £20 for BCS Members, £20 non-members booking by 22nd January, £25 for non-members booking after 22nd January. DetailsThe YPG are pleased to announce the first SkillCentre to be held outside London, following several successful SkillCentres held there. All too often companies and Universities only offer training opportunities which focus on technical skills leaving soft skills to be picked up on the job; many times it is the soft skills that help you and your organisation get ahead of the competition. This SkillCentre is about negotiation, an invaluable skill used daily whatever your job, role or level, and is presented by Malcolm Smith, the visiting lecturer on negotiation at London Business School. Malcolm has worked at director, divisional and board level for several major manufacturing companies, has a proven track record in profit turnaround in medium to large PLCs and has managed large and complex multi-national groups and European acquisitions. The evening will follow the format of the London SkillCentres, with a canapes and sparkling wine reception on arrival providing a chance to network with the other attendees. Malcolm will then present his negotiation masterclass, which he encourages to be interactive. Following any closing questions there will be a further opportunity to network. The cost is £20 for BCS Members and £20 initially for non-members, rising to £25 for non-members for bookings after the 22nd of January (3 weeks before the event). The Young Professionals Group is one of the larger groups of the British Computer Society and represents all members under the age of 35. However this event is intended for anyone, regardless of age. The Hilton Edinburgh Grosvenor is just off the centre of Edinburgh, across the road from Haymarket railway station and on the Airport bus route. If you have questions on this event, or prefer to book and pay by other means, please contact Andrew Rae (BCS Edinburgh Branch YPG rep). About the Speaker
