BCS Edinburgh Branch ICT Grant

In keeping with the ethos of a Professional Body whose concern is not solely for the interest of its own members, but for the benefit of the public at large, BCS Edinburgh Branch Committee has instituted an ICT Grant.

Eligibility

This Grant is available to enable an individual to purchase ICT equipment when the following conditions apply:

a) the individual is unable without some hardship to meet the cost from their own funds, and
b) the need for, purpose and suitability of the equipment requested has been verified, and
c) it is unlikely that the equipment could be obtained from other charitable sources.

It is the intention of the grant that it should help elderly, disabled or otherwise disadvantaged individuals for whom ICT is an essential component of independent living, of communication or of livelihood.

Nominations

Nominations can be made by Members or Fellows of The British Computer Society by completing the nomination form.

Nominees must reside or work within the Branch catchment area.

The Grant

The grant will consist of ICT equipment, or a sum of cash for the designated purpose.

Normally, it is a condition of the grant that the recipient is prepared to have the award publicised.

Any ICT equipment awarded or purchased is the property and responsibility of the recipient. BCS Edinburgh Branch has no responsibility for its future maintenance, repair or replacement.

Judging

Grants will be made from time to time by the Committee of BCS Edinburgh Branch.

The decision of the Committee will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
