Synopsis

Come and meet BCS President, Alastair Revell, in Edinburgh. He will share his insights on the importance of professional recognition in the IT industry.

In this talk, Alastair will highlight why we should all aim for Chartered status. Anyone in a key IT role should demonstrate accountability through a rigorous assessment process and by joining a public register.

The Chartered designation is granted by respected professional bodies and societies, including BCS. It signifies excellence across many fields such as IT, engineering, accountancy, and more.

Professional recognition through Chartered status is evidence of an individual's ethical, technical, and professional competence. It not only validates their expertise but also adds distinction to their email signature and LinkedIn profile.

About the speaker

Alastair Revell is the 64th President of BCS The Chartered Institute for IT. He is advocating for chartered and professional registrations in computing, digital tech and IT as a means of assuring the public about the competence and ethical practice of professionals in these fields, especially in the wake of recent IT scandals and in the face of rising use of AI.

He is a strategic leader and director working at a national level within the IT Profession in the United Kingdom in a variety of leading governance and advisory roles, influencing public policy and developing professional standards, as well as an experienced business leader and consultant with a 35+ year proven commercial track record in providing independent and impartial advice on management and technology, primarily to professional service firms and corporate organisations.
