In this talk, Ilyena will introduce the field of Animal-Computer Interaction and critical trends in this area through examples of her research on developing computers for monkeys and dogs. Focusing on enrichment systems for animals, Ilyena will highlight the potential of the internet and IoT for animals and where she sees the future of Animal-Computing.

About the speaker

 

Ilyena Hirskyj-Douglas (@ilyena) is a Lecturer from The University of Glasgow who researches how to design and build novel systems for animals to access computer systems. The technology Ilyena makes focuses on animal-controlled and internet-connected systems. Her work includes systems for monkeys in zoos and dogs in the home. She looks at how to build computer systems designed to fit the animals' needs and what animals would use computer systems for.
